One of my main reasons for starting this blog is so that my friends and family can try some of my favorite restaurants that they would normally not find on their own. Yu n Mi was recommended to me by one of my family friends and I could not be happier about it. I have eaten at this little hole in the wall restaurant a dozen times now and continue to recommend it to all of my friends as well. Yu n Mi is in Beverly Hills but does not have the same vibe as other surrounding restaurants. Yu n Mi is authentic Japanese food that is consistently good, so good that I tend to order the same few items every time I go.
Yu n Mi is perfect for groups as their plates are perfect for sharing. While I normally recommend one of my favorite dishes, I can’t help but recommend a whole dinner of my favorites. I typically start with the albacore belly sushi. This fish is so fresh that sometimes the restaurant runs out of this dish, meaning that they have used up the fish that was bought at the fish market that morning. It is so tender that it melts in your mouth, making it the perfect starter to your meal. Going along with the light fare, I order the tuna and albacore salad, which is full of large pieces of fish on top of lightly dressed mixed greens. Those who are not in love with the whole sushi idea will be delighted with the spicy tuna and crispy rice and spicy rock shrimp appetizer. At this point your stomach is starting to expand from eating rice, however, I would recommend ending with a hand roll. If you tend to like sweet over savory I would order the baked crab hand roll, or if you like savory more I would order the chopped salmon hand roll with avocado. If there is a special offered that includes miso, order it, period, no question. My favorite hand roll of all time was the miso Sea Bass hand roll and I go back to the restaurant frequently, hoping that they will offer this delectable dish once again.
