Joan’s On Third

While restaurants are good, Marketplaces are even better. These marketplaces, such as Joan’s, provide the customer with packaged menu items as well as assorted specialities made by the chef. For example, Joan’s has a marketplace that has frozen entrées, a bakery of delectable desserts, a deli counter with an array of items, and packaged snacks such as chips and marshmallows. Joan’s is one of my favorite restaurants for the sole fact that it has so many items to offer, on and off the menu.

Recently when I dined at Joan’s I had the Southwest Salad and a side of Tuna Salad. The salad is well equipped with jicama, corn, black beans, and a creamy cilantro dressing. The tuna is one of best in the city as it isn’t mixed with the typical lump of mayonnaise and has the perfect amount of crunch from shredded carrots. I typically add the tuna on top of the salad to create the perfect protein packed lunch. To add to this delicious lunch my mom ordered the Butternut Squash Lasagna, a sweet dessert like treat, with a creamy Béchamel sauce. Other items I typically order include the tuna melt, crispy on the outside and cheesy and warm on the inside, and the Avocado Toast, creamy and salty and topped with a perfectly poached egg.
