This weekend I escaped the heat and headed to Malibu. This getaway was amazing and provided some much needed R & R! We were craving Italian food and thus headed to Mangia.
Mangia is located in the Trancas Canyon shopping center, situated so that your outside dining has a beautiful view of the mountains. The menu is large and provides an array of choices for every type of eater. I chose to begin with the Minestrone, then share a Chopped Salad (no salami), and end with the special fish of the day Branzino! The soup was very traditional and true to its recipe, the salad was good, however, the Branzino was amazing! The Branzino was brought to table side whole and then the waiter fileted it and added it to my plate. This dish was very filling as it was the whole fish and mild, however, meaty. My one disappointment came from my ideal Branzino being crispy when they cook it skin side down in a heated pan, but I was very pleased with my order. Others in my group chose the meat eater options with the Short Rib Parpadelle, Lasagna, Ravioli, and Pizza! Overall I would venture to Mangia again to indulge in homemade Italian cuisine!
